June has already seen us attend two wonderful events.

IFIS was proud to sponsor the USAIN 2026 conference held at Virginia Tech University, USA. Head of Marketing and Engagement, Rhianna Gamble attended on behalf of IFIS, meeting academic librarians to discuss how our specialist food and health information resources can support evidence-based teaching, collection development and student research skills.

Closer to home, Katy Askey, Managing Director, represented IFIS at Food Matters Live in London, a major gathering for innovators and practitioners working at the intersection of food, health and nutrition. She moderated the debate “Ultra-Processed Foods: Harmful or Misunderstood?”, bringing together different expert perspectives on the evolving evidence base and what it means for research, policy and public communication.

Quick tip

Your literature search shouldn't be contained to just peer-reviewed journal articles. Grey literature includes reports, theses, policy documents and other research outputs shared via institutional or organisational websites instead of commercial academic publishers.

To quickly check if something is grey literature, ask: has it been peer‑reviewed, and is it mainly trying to sell something? If the answer to both is no, it probably counts as grey literature and could add useful, up‑to‑date context to your assignments, dissertations or early research projects.
