Marketing Assistant

This is an interesting and challenging opportunity for a marketer looking to work in a small, highly professional, not-for-profit publisher and educational charity with ambitious growth plans. The role will suit a creative, organised self-starter who enjoys variety and collaboration. 

It is an exciting time to join IFIS. We launched a major new product earlier in 2021 and are working on further launches taking place in the coming months. This is in addition to our well-established database FSTA, used for researching food information in universities and food companies internationally.  

Working primarily with the Head of Marketing and Engagement and the Senior Marketing Executive, the Marketing Assistant supports the delivery of planned and ad hoc activities across all marketing channels, to help achieve IFIS targets for educational activities, renewals and new sales. This includes supporting the new product launches.

This is a 12 month contract, with the potential for extension. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, with a salary of £20,000-£23,000. This position is hybrid, with a mixture of working from home and working from the office in Winnersh Triangle, Wokingham.  

Example activities include but are not limited to:

  • Being the first line of support for enquiries, responding or escalating in a timely manner
  • Managing the day-to-day website content to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date, assisting with other updates and development as needed, and optimising for search engines
  • Administrative activities as needed, including filing and CRM data housekeeping in compliance with GDPR requirements
  • Supporting social media operations, including content research and creation, scheduling posts, and interacting with the community
  • Conducting and facilitating product and market research activities as needed
  • Working closely with marketing team and other stakeholders to deliver marketing messaging and assets
  • Reporting using analytics tools and making recommendations
  • Designing digital and print assets, including social media graphics, presentations, ads, flyers, etc.
  • Writing, proofreading and copyediting compelling content for online and print
  • Supporting implementation of email marketing, including newsletters
  • Assisting with the organisation of IFIS-run webinars and events
  • Helping organise attendance and sponsorship of external events, including bookings and logistics
  • Running the monthly internal newsletter
  • Supporting customer renewal communications process during busy renewals periods
  • Potentially representing IFIS exhibiting at domestic and international conferences when these resume
  • Keeping strategic goals at the centre of your work, optimising for maximum impact
  • To undertake any other duties and projects as requested by the line manager

 Skills and experience (essential)

  • At least one year of experience working in marketing and passion for this career path
  • Excellent time management capabilities, including being used to juggling multiple projects and prioritising your workload
  • A problem-solving attitude
  • Experience with
    • Updating website content
    • Social media 
    • Google Analytics
    • Microsoft Office
    • Canva
    • Hubspot (desirable but not essential)
  • Interest in food and nutrition (desirable, not essential)
