FSTA® is the key database for faculty, students, and industry scientists conducting research in the sciences of food and health.

Journals are assessed for inclusion in FSTA by our team of food scientists. The assessment is based on the journals’ quality, integrity and relevance to FSTA.

To recommend a journal for indexing in FSTA, complete the form. Please include as much information as possible, as this will be used by our editorial team to assess whether the journal meets our criteria.

If access or more details are needed, the editorial team will contact you directly.

Interdisciplinary coverage

In addition to the core areas of food science, food technology and nutrition, we include relevant articles from journals in many other disciplines, such as:

  • Agriculture
  • Analytical chemistry
  • Animal science
  • Economics, business and management
  • Environmental health
  • Health and disease, e.g. endocrinology and genomics
  • Plant science

How we identify and exclude predatory journals

In addition to ensuring new journals include sufficient content within the scope of FSTA’s subject area coverage, we conduct a thorough evaluation of each new journal against a checklist of criteria relating to potentially predatory or unethical publishing practices. This enables us to identify and exclude publishers and journals that may be using such practices. Learn more
