As a not-for-profit, charitable organisation, the IFIS mission
is:
- To communicate and promote knowledge of the science related to
food, drink and nutrition in order to stimulate global education,
research and vocational training for the future benefit of
humanity.
As part of this commitment to education and research we offer
information to organisations also committed to improving knowledge
in the developing world.

AGORA (Access to Global Online Research in
Agriculture)
The AGORA program, set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization
of the UN (FAO), together with major information providers such as
IFIS, enables developing countries to gain access to an outstanding
digital library collection in the fields of food, agriculture,
environmental science and related social sciences.
HINARI
(from the World Health Organisation)
Through the HINARI Access to Research in Health Programme, IFIS
provides free access to FSTA content. Numerous major journals in
biomedical and related social sciences also provide free or
low-cost access to local, not-for-profit institutions in developing
countries.

The
Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP)
Partnership Project
IFIS are also part of ALPSP's 'Partnership Project' through our
support of Polish Agricultural Universities, including University
of Life Sciences in Poznan, Warsaw University of Life Sciences -
SGGW and Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
This initiative provides scholarly publishers in developing
countries with the opportunity to be ALPSP members and receive one
print copy of and online access to Learned Publishing at a
specially reduced membership fee.
